As Catholic Family Network has grown over the last number of years we have always encouraged and participated in new projects and ventures. One of these new ventures was Catholic Family Week which began in 2012. We felt there was a need for families to come together and sepend time with each other on holidays.
The complex where Catholic Family Week is held at Knockadoon near Youghal, Cork is owned by the Dominican Order. It contains six holiday cottages, dining hall, games hall, community centre and of course a chapel where the Eucharist is always present. It is situated on the sea front which is great for water sports or to enjoy the scenery. The houses are basic and usually accommodate two families in each house. We can also accommodate tents and camper vans with a toilet/shower block for families who wish to stay with us.
Each day begins with Mass followed by various activities for adults and children. These include sports day, kayaking and excursions amongst many other things. Parents can enjoy a cup of tea and a chat while the children are kept busy during the day with the leaders or get involved with the activities and discussions that we have for adults.
2014 will be the third year that we had Catholic Family Week and look forward to having some old and new faces with us this year
